Powerful Diagnostics,
Close to Home

At Edgewater Animal Hospital, advanced diagnostics and imaging help turn uncertainty into clarity. With on-site testing and modern imaging tools, many answers are available the same day. This means care decisions can move forward quickly with confidence.
Why Diagnostics Matter
During routine wellness visits, diagnostics provide a valuable snapshot of your pet’s health today, helping identify concerns early and serving as a trusted reference point if issues arise down the road. When your pet isn’t feeling well, they often conceal signs of illness or injury. When something feels off, diagnostic testing helps uncover concerns early, confirm what’s happening beneath the surface, and guide thoughtful treatment plans.
Common pet diagnostic laboratory services available include:
- Bloodwork: Provides insight into organ function, infection, inflammation, and overall internal health
- Urinalysis: Assesses kidney health and hydration while helping identify infections and metabolic concerns
- Fecal exams: Detect intestinal parasites and infections that may impact digestion and overall wellness
- Cytology: Examines cells from the skin, ears, or masses to help identify infection, inflammation, or abnormal changes
Benefits of In-House Testing
In-house testing means quicker results, fewer referrals, earlier treatment when needed, and better monitoring of ongoing conditions.
When Diagnostic Testing May Be Recommended
Testing may be recommended during routine wellness visits, before anesthesia, or when a pet shows signs such as:
- Changes in appetite, weight, or energy
- Vomiting or diarrhea
- Increased thirst or urination
- Coughing or breathing changes
- Limping or unexplained pain
Advanced Care, Neighborhood Access

Advanced imaging gives us a clearer picture of what’s happening inside your pet’s body. We offer advanced ultrasound and digital imaging on site, so important answers don’t require extra appointments or long waits.
Digital X-Ray
Digital X-rays use safe, high-resolution imaging to visualize bones, joints, abdominal organs, and chest structures, which allows your veterinarian to quickly identify injuries, mobility issues, or respiratory and cardiac changes.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a non-invasive procedure that uses sound waves to create real-time images of soft tissues and internal organs.
Specialized & Send-Out Diagnostics
When advanced or specialized testing is needed, such as thyroid or other endocrine evaluations, samples are sent to our trusted reference laboratories. Results are sent back to Edgewater for our team to review and create a care plan.
By pairing modern technology with thoughtful interpretation, our
expertly trained veterinarians are able to evaluate concerns more accurately and move forward with care decisions confidently.
